Prayer for Worship March 29th 2009

O Lord, how we love your law!

Gracious Father we praise you that you have given us your word and we can be sure that we can trust you forever.   We worship you in spirit and in truth, proclaiming your greatness enable us to focus on things that really matter and that last.     Set us free from living for self and sin.

O Lord, how we love your law!

Loving Brother we praise you that you have shown us how to live in purity by keeping the words of the Lord in our hearts.   Help us to treasure your precious promises so that we may not sin against you.   Forgive us when we stray and turn aside from your way.   Cleanse us of the awful stain of sin and set us free to serve you.

O Lord, how we love your law!

Trusted Friend, you have shown us true riches in the grace of our Lord; help us to speak out your word in witness to others.   Grant that we might take delight in all that you have revealed to us.   May we grow in our awareness of how needy we really are, as we gladly receive the gifts of your Kingdom.   Please help us to remember all that you have taught us and to put it into practice for your glory’s sake.

This our prayer we offer in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray.......

Prayers for Stewardship Sunday March 22nd 2009

Prayer of Approach and Confession

“We cry to you, Lord. Hear our cry for mercy. If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you is forgiveness so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”

Gracious God our Father, we know that we can rely upon you as we come together in worship, fellowship and service. Living Christ, we know that we can place our trust in you for time and for eternity. Friendly Spirit, we know that you can fill us with hope to overcome every challenge we face in this life and the life to come. Help us to worship you, Father Son and Holy Spirit and to grow in confidence in your greatness and your goodness.

Lord of our yesterdays, todays and tomorrows, yet always the same, we confess that too often we live only for the present moment, and let our health, emotions and passions rule our lives. Grant us your Spirit to fill us with wholeness, to bring us under your control and cleanse us from our resistance to your power and presence. Help us not to be overtaken by events and prevent us from sinking into despair. Lift us out of the depths of our self-pity. Awaken us from our spiritual slumbers.

We thank you Lord that we can meet with you as friends and hear the good news of your free and full pardon to all who truly turn to you in penitence and faith. Help us to believe the good news that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Help us to live on the level of the Spirit and to keep a spiritual outlook which brings life and peace.

Dear Lord, deliver us from the fear of dying and death so that we may live freely the life of the Spirit, in obedience to your commands, and invigorated by the indwelling Christ  so that together we may set about accomplishing your purposes and so bring glory to your name, who taught us to pray the family prayer..OUR FATHER…..

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Today as we look back on another year during which the needs of your people have been met, we give thanks for the glorious truth that all who trust in Jesus crucified and risen will share in his resurrection life. May our thanksgiving not merely be spoken but enacted in lives which overflow with appreciation and wonder as we seek to put into practice the super-abundance of your riches given so freely through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Prayer of Dedication

Gracious God, you gave your Son to live and to die for the world. We offer you these gifts as signs of your love and we pray that our lives may be used to your glory, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Prayers for Worship March 15th 2009

Prayer of approach and confession

“Come let us bow down and worship him; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker!”

We praise you Mighty LORD because you are the King of all kings and you rule over the earth and sea, over the stars and planets, over day and night. You are so great and powerful, yet you care for us. You are our God and you provide for all our needs. You have put us on a good earth with all that everybody needs for living life to the full. You have given us your word that we will be protected by you and know peace in our hearts, peace with others and peace with our God, if we will only trust in your promises.

Yet dear Lord we know that so often we take you and all your gifts for granted. Instead of being joyful and full of thanks for all that you have given to us, we complain that we don’t have enough. Instead of sharing your care and love with others we keep all that we have to ourselves. Instead of joining with others in worship we keep ourselves to ourselves and don’t listen eagerly for your messages to us. Gracious Lord, please forgive us and help us to say sorry for the many times we have broken your rules and failed to come up to your standards. Help us to be humble and to receive your pardon so that we can try harder to follow your leading when we hear your call.

Please be with us today as we join together with your people all over the world in worship. Help us to feel part of your worldwide family and to be like a flock of sheep which is guided by a good shepherd. We gather our thoughts and prayers in the words that Jesus taught us to pray together…..OUR FATHER.

Prayer of Dedication

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. Take us and these gifts to be used in your gracious and holy service, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
